Fox International Productions and 20th Century Fox said today that period crime drama The Clan will open January 29 in Los Angeles and New York. The pic bowed at Venice, winning the Silver Lion for writer-director Pablo Trapero, followed by stops in Toronto and San Sebastian. It also will screen at the AFI Fest next month.

The Clan tells the true story of the Puccios, a middle-class family in suburban Bueno Aires that is pulled into a world of kidnapping, ransom and murder by the family’s patriarch during the 1980s. Guillermo Francella stars as Arquímedes, with Peter Lanzani playing his son Alejandro, a rugby star who is manipulated into helping Dad carry out meticulously planned abductions of wealthy locals. But when kidnapping turns to murder, Alejandro must face the truth that his father — his hero — is a cold-blooded killer. Lili Popovich, Gastón Cocchiarale, Giselle Motta, Franco Masini, Antonia Bengoechea and Stefania Koessl co-star.

Trapero and the team behind last year’s Wild Tales — Hugo Sigman, Matías Mosteirín, Agustín Almodóvar, Pedro Almodóvar and Esther García — produced the film, which also plays the Miami International Film Festival this weekend.

who do remember what was unleashed by the dictatorship.

It's so important that the whole country is aware of what has happened, to strengthen its will to prevent it from happening again.

Thanks for your unexpected comment. Enormously interesting.
