Honduran Minister Admits Link of Police with Gangs

Tegucigalpa, Feb 26 (Prensa Latina) Officers of the national police of Honduras maintained links closed to local gang Mara Salvatrucha, today recognized the Security Minister, Julian Pacheco Tinoco.

Pacheco Tinoco confirmed the relationship between that governmental body and the structure of the criminal group, and said that currently the police is attacking those who remain in the institution and maintain relations with the Mara.

"We are going to put them at the order of the law," he warned, quoted by newspaper La Prensa.

According to Tinoco, the transnational Mara Salvatrucha, known here as MS-13, contaminated all the systems of the country since it is less violent than other similar criminal organizations, but more lethal in the scope of penetration.
