Pensions of Former President of Argentina Seized

Pensions of Former President of Argentina Seized

Buenos Aires, Jul 20 (Prensa Latina) In another court strike against Cristina Fernandez, judge Claudio Bonadio seized all her goods, plus the two pensions of the former president, who is analyzing the possibility to bring this issue to international courts.

The lawyer of the former president, Carlos Beraldi, considered Bonadio's action as a legal outrage, since the law expressly states that life pensions are unalienable, the newspaper Pagina 12 published. Unable to collect her pension because her bank accounts were frozen and the contents of the safe deposit boxes of her daughter Florencia Kirchner were seized, Cristina Fernandez wants to file a 'judicial persecution' case to the courts.

Since 2011, Cristina Fernandez collects a monthly pension of 143.539 pesos (USD 9.569) for being Kirchner's widow, and besides that, since last January she collects 188.539 pesos ( USD 12.569), for being a former president.

Meanwhile, deputy Margarita Stolbizer asked the Justice to postpone or bring forward the date of the mediation hearing that was set for August 10th. She argued that she has to travel abroad to see her son, Nicolas Laprovittola, who is in the basketball national team that will participate in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Due to a complaint made by Stolbizer, judge Julian Ercolini ordered to seize the USD 4.6 million that were in the safe deposit boxes of Florencia Kirchner. This money is legally registered with the Justice and the Treasury as inheritance money left by Nestor for the family.
