Guatemala Opens Regional Military Exercises with USA



Guatemala, Apr 19 (Prensa Latina) Military Deputy Commander of U.S. Southern Command, Lieutenant General of the Army (LTG) Joseph P. DiSalvo, will open today in Guatemala the regional military exercises called Humanitarian Allied Forces (FAHUM), in which several countries are participating.

Members of civil organizations and military entities from Brazil, Chile, Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Peru, among others, will participate in the drills, in which a simulation exercise for activity of the Fuego volcano will be included this year.

FAHUM-2017 comprises several drills in command posts or Emergency Operations Centers (COE).

The aim is to exchange information and acquire experiences in coordination and response to disasters due to weather or environmental situations, according to organizers.
