I Do Not Regret Expelling the DEA from Bolivia, Says Evo Morales
La Paz, June 4 (Prensa Latina) President Evo Morales recalled today that the expulsion of the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the US military allowed it to regain Bolivia''s economic and political sovereignty.
Morales, who came to power in 2006, decreed two years later the DEA's departure from the national territory and closed the US military base at Chimoré, in the Tropic of Cochabamba.
I do not regret the decisions about the DEA and the military bases, the president said in an act for the 47th anniversary of the municipality of Villa Tunari, located in that region of the center of the country.
He condemned the repression of the North American agents against the Bolivian peasants, under the pretext of the fight against drugs.
