President Donald Trump is expected to visit Miami as early as next Friday to announce a new Cuba policy that could tighten rules on trade and travel, rolling back parts of former President Barack Obamas opening to the island, according to a U.S. official and people familiar with the matter.
Trumps aides are nearing completion of a review of relations with Cuba and are expected to send recommendations to his national security team and then to the president in coming days, a U.S. official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Plans are in the works for Trump to roll out his new approach on June 16 in a speech in Miami, where he is expected to claim fulfillment of a campaign promise and justify it, at least in part, on human rights grounds, the sources said.
But they cautioned that a delay in the announcement is still possible if it takes longer for Trump to make a final decision.

(160,527 posts)Washington, June 9 (Prensa Latina) Seven House Republicans have sent a letter to President Donald Trump asking for Cuba to remain open as a matter of US national security, ABC News reported.
According to the ABC News website, they are deeply concerned by reports the administration is leaning toward reversing the Cuba policy initiated by former President Barack Obama (2009-2017).
In the letter, the seven republicans wrote that reversing the re-normalization of US relations with Cuba would jeopardize the efforts to fight human trafficking, illicit drug trafficking, cybercrime and fraud identification.
The Republican congressmen who signed the letter include Reps. Tom Emmer of Minnesota, Rick Crawford of Arkansas, Ted Poe of Texas, Darin LaHood of Illinois, Roger Marshall of Kansas, James Comer of Kentucky and Jack Bergman of Michigan.

(7,016 posts)Trump is not responsible for all this B.S. legislation and executive orders etc. the swamp he put in place along with Ryan, McConnell are pushing their wish list . Trump is just the tool they are using. This is why not only trump but all the criminals down the line need to be swept to jail or impeached. Pence is certainly not acceptable.
