Venezuela ends 2017 with the highest inflation in the world
Economists calculate an inflation of 81% in Venezuela for December. The country closes the year with an accumulated inflation of more than 2,735 percent, according to the preliminary estimate of the financial analysis firm Ecoanalítica

The inflation for this month of December in Venezuela reached 81 percent, which will take the country to close the year with an accumulated inflation of more than 2,735 percent, according to the preliminary estimate of the financial analysis firm Ecoanalítica.

According to its director, the economist Asdrúbal Oliveros, the accumulated inflation of 2016 was 525 percent.

The Venezuelan Government and the Central Bank do not publish data on inflation or other economic indicators since 2015, so private consultants such as Ecoanalítica or Econometric are the ones that measure these phenomena, of which Parliament also offers calculations, the only power of the State in hands of the opposition.

According to data from these sources, Venezuela technically entered hyperinflation weeks ago, when it exceeded the 50 percent monthly inflation threshold.
