Without naming names, President Jair Bolsonaro said on Sunday (5) that he would fire members of his government who become "stars."
" (For) some people in my government, something went up in their heads. They are thinking too much. They were normal people, but suddenly they became stars, they talk by the elbows, they have provocations. The D time has not come yet. Their time will come because my pen works," Bolsonaro said to a group of religious, about 20 people, who gathered in front of the Palácio da Alvorada.
"I am not afraid to fire people, nor am I terrified. And it will be used for the good of Brazil. It is not for my good," he said.
Bolsonaro did not speak to journalists, nor did he allow them to approach. The government itself broadcast part of the conversation, other excerpts recorded by supporters.

(21,627 posts)With many notable exceptions, their reaction since the Great Recession has been what was widely feared but often predicted: they didn't self-regulate or begin anything resembling soul-searching.
They doubled down.
And where politics is concerned this has meant pushing any neo-fascist carnival barker they could find, everywhere they could; the more shameless, the better.
The goal here is to make any kind of public oversight, reform or (egads!) taxation - no matter how modest - next to impossible.
Nor was this tactic anything really new.
Hitler, Franco, and Mussolini didn't rise to power just by ranting and raving, you know. They did it with millions in corporate support, domestically as well as from overseas.
Bolsonazi definitely fits this mold. And it 's backfiring on Brazil just as it backfired here and in 1930s Europe.
