Yesterday President Boric transferred the presidency of the Regional Committee for the Use of the Coastal Zone to the Regional Governments, taking a decisive step toward the decentralisation of power in this matter.
This is a historic decentralising transfer, which materialises the regions decision-making power over their territories and resources, said President Gabriel Boric when announcing the measure that confirmed the transfer of the presidency of the Regional Committee for the Use of the Coastal Zone (CRUBC) from the Presidency of the Republic to the Regional Governments.
Until now this body was part of the Presidency, so this change is intended to give a signal towards decentralisation. The CRUBC is a body that seeks to propose to the President of the Republic, actions that promote the implementation and enforcement of the National Policy for the Use of the Coastal Edge, so from now on it will be referred to the Governorates of each region.
It should be noted that Chiles coastline is an invaluable source of resources and opportunities, the use of which is not indifferent to the development of local communities and the sustainable preservation of their territories.
