Youth Suicide Rate Rises in 5 Years and Worries Brazilian Health Department

The number of suicides among young people has gone up in Brazil in recent years.
From 2016 to 2021, the mortality rate per 100,000 people related to this cause increased by 45% in the 10-14 age group (from 0.92 to 1.33) and 49.3% in the 15-19 age group (from 4 .40 to 6.56).
In the same period, the rate in the general population varied by 17.8% (from 5.6 to 6.6).
The data is from the Mortality Information System of the Ministry of Health. For the ministry, the situation in the country is cause for concern, the same tone expressed by experts.
