A trio of robbers in Colombia had to abandon its loot when the getaway donkey started braying so loudly police were alerted.
The thieves' crime spree started when they stole the donkey, 10-year-old Xavi, from his owner, Orlando Olivares, in the tiny town of Juan de Acosta, according to Time. They planned on using Xavi as a getaway/pack donkey for their grocery store heist.
Twelve hours later, they managed to steal rum, oil, rice, cans of tuna and sardines before Xavi started braying so loudly he grabbed the attention of nearby police, noted The Telegraph. The group had to ditch the donkey and all their stolen items to get away from the officers.
"They came through the roof to rob," shop owner Fabio Orozco said. "They took rum, rice, everything."
According to Yahoo! News, police returned the stolen goods and Olivares picked up Xavi at the town police station.
