Hi guys! Look what Newt Gingrich just said ....

via Twitter feed from David Corn.

"Newt decries secret donors, vicious consultants & says anyone elected that way won't be able to govern

Newt cites GW Bush's 04 campaign as an example of a nasty campaign that made it impossible for pres. to govern afterward. (David Corn adds hashtag: #rove!)"

I'm not saying it's that big a deal, and maybe is about his hating on Rove, but it does seem like an acknowledgement of what was done to Kerry in '04, and how because of that, Bush's 2nd term was a failure.

As an aside, I will never forget Gingrich's debate with John Kerry on climate change. He clearly is just a performance artist. I'm not sure which Newt is the real one, but back then anyway, he thought global climate change was an URGENT problem and mostly agreed with Kerry.

I also remember how many RW bloggers were angry at Gingrich for debating Kerry.

I like the concept of Newt as performance artist.

I wonder if his position in that debate was chosen as the one that gave him the maximum chance of winning. He spoke first and quickly claimed most of the middle ground - even using some points that Kerry had used often in 2004. A less capable or less knowledgeable debater would have been completely blown off center - with most prepared points immediately made useless. As it was, Kerry pushed him further to add the concession that it was urgent.

I do like seeing the angry SBVT reaction to Newt - they know they lied - an action that should follow them for the rest of their lives. It will serve them right if they are rejected by more of the Conservatives than just Newt.

I do hope that Newt can control his anger enough that the story is Romney's willingness to put so much money behind negative ads (and I think his distortion of Obama was worse than anything they did to Newt) rather than Newt's anger.

...here.

Thank you for posting that info. I agree the 2004 campaign...including Rove's shenanigans...probably ruined GWB's second term. But I also think GWB's policies (both foreign policy and the economy) had done him in well before that. JK's campaign just illuminated them for all to see.

And now Republicans think going BACK to those policies is a GOOD idea? On what planet... ??

Happy New Year, beachmom.
