CNN and MSNBC talked to John Kerry about Trump's decision

Kerry both spoke of why we should not leave the deal and answered the question on him "speaking to diplomats". He was at a Milan forum on food.

I can't find an MSNBC link, but the CNN one is great.

Great to what Kerry sanely speaking about this, but also am incredibly nostalgic for that time when I could be proud of how we were represented in the world.

As a country, I can't help thinking:
"yesterday, all our troubles were so far away .. now it looks as though they are here to stay ...

I am glad that he was not deterred from speaking out in his typical focused way after the Trump attacks and the right wing nonsense. Interesting that even when he has to be furious, he is such a contrast with those against the deal.

on Nicole Wallace. He said that future diplomacy by the US has been effected and our allies know we broke an agreement while Russia and China will now be more likely to move into this region in the Middle East.

I can't find a link, but I was hearing earlier today that the Trumpsters felt that Kerry's attempts to salvage the Iran deal were "treason."

It is heartbreaking to see all of the good work of Kerry and Obama destroyed just because ... And with each clueless action, all nations are put at greater risk.

but the fact is that what happens in Iran and the Middle East is all now on Donald Trump. The Obama/Kerry path could have led to a more peaceful world. Avoiding a war for 10 years -- would often mean that it never happens.

The Trumpsters are ridiculous - Kerry did nothing illegal.

What is clear is that they are trying to shut him up, but he seemed almost amused at the stupidity of that charge. Not to mention, though he is President, Trump will never be half the man Kerry is - and they both know that.

One observation - Kerry looks years younger and laughs easily. Notice that Trump looks perpetually angry and seems to have few real friends. With all his power, he lacks the self confidence and the strength of character that Kerry has shown all his life.

He has taken so much heat over his life for doing what he believed in. He took it, didn't return any of it, and just kept doing the right thing. I think that's why I continue to be such a big fan of his.

The current occupant of the White House is a very small-minded, petty grifter. My heart breaks daily to see what is happening to us.

that you and karynnj have said on this thread.
I'd only quibble with one detail: Donny J does not have a little finger's worth of integrity: He has ZERO integrity. He is an empty and despicable man on every level. He has no redeeming features.

Yeah, we all knew that he was going to walk away from the Iran deal. But even with the advance notice, this foolish decision - this TRAGIC decision - has turned me into a basket case. It's bad for the US (including US workers as well as US business and our international reputation). and it's bad for the world. Hearing * and his supporters trash Kerry for what was an exceptionally courageous peace agreement (something for which Kerry and Moniz and Rouhani deserved, and still deserve, a Nobel Peace Prize) rubs more salt into my already wounded heart

Oh, and speaking of Nobel peace prizes: Donald Trump saying that he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize is the ultimate sick joke and the last straw.

Life under the Grifter in Chief is terrifying on a daily basis. Ask me how much I enjoy living in a country where the administration is basially a money-laundering operation for Russian oligarchs, the rule of law is eroded constantly, and the government is being taken apart to benefit a group of very wealthy, very short-sighted people.

And today I see our NEW ambassador to Germany TWEETS that Germany had best follow the lead of the US on Iran OR ELSE. (The German responses I saw were polite, but encouraged the guy to pack his bags and head home.)

Boeing says that they will obey the new sanctions, but it will be okay BECAUSE THEY WILL BE SELLING SO MANY ARMS TO THE MIDDLE EAST. Good to know they we won't be losing money.

I sure hope we survive this pestilence. At best, many people will go to jail, and it will take us years to clean the toxins out of our government and our country after the Grifter is gone.
