Falcon Transport drivers told to cease driving immediately after abrupt closure

Truck drivers for the flatbed truckload carrier, Falcon Transport of Youngstown, Ohio, said they received emails late April 27 stating the company was shuttering operations effective immediately.

The carrier has 723 trucks and nearly 585 drivers, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s SAFER system.

Jayson Calhoun, director of operations of Falcon, confirmed the abrupt closure to FreightWaves early April 28, but provided no further details.

One Falcon Transport driver said he and other drivers received a message from Calhoun around 8 p.m. on April 27 instructing them to stop any work for the company “immediately,” but he hasn’t been able to confirm any additional information about the closure.

Haven't read the article but I do remember reading articles that mentioned logistics companies had to raise pay to attract drivers due to shortage?

7. Probably because the company owner(s)

were embezzling, or some other illegal something and now all their workers are screwed. If they are out on the road, they will end up parking the unit, possibly hang around for a short time to see if they are later told to continue on like within a day. After that, it's kind of like finding out your airline tickets are no good because the company you booked your far Asian tour with bellied up last night and you have no way to get home. Only, I can assure you, they have a lot more luggage and tools, radios that they own, bedding... It sucks. I worked for a bunch of crooks back east who were having their trucks seized (!) at state POEs. I had to get out at the NM/AZ state line! With all my stuff and negotiate for a ride to a city so I could get on a bus and go someplace safe. That's what a lot of these drivers will have to do. Some might own their trucks, at that point they should just deliver what load is on and find another broker right away. But company drivers are also likely to be short on cash as they don't normally have a lot on hand and that could present other issues.
