Union Workers Want Labor Contracts, Better Working Conditions

HONOLULU -- Employees at the Modern Honolulu have been without a contract since the hotel changed hands in 2011, while union workers at the Pacific Beach have been without a contract for a decade. On Wednesday, many workers rallied in front of their hotels to let management know they want a deal.
An unresolved labor contract and employee claims they were unfairly fired, sparked a protest at the Modern Honolulu.
"I have concern for justice for everybody. A lot of people were fired for no reason," said former Modern Honolulu housekeeper Juliana Alcaraz. She said the reason she was let go was because she spoke out against management.
Other workers say they are fearful their jobs will be cut next, because the new management team has broken its promises to employees.
