VEISHEA events except Spring Football game cancelled
http://amestrib.com/sports/football-isu-spring-game-still-despite-veishea-cancellation
VEISHEA is an annual celebration that includes a bunch of wholesome activities like a magician, a comedian, a musical, several music performances, a Idol talent knock off, pie eating, charity run etc. Apparently all of these things are cancelled because of the riot, but the one thing not cancelled is the one thing probably attended by a good chunk of the rioters - the Spring football game. One football player is even photographed during the riot carrying a stop sign. Tell me college sports don't dominate academics.

1. I went to ISU -- long long ago.
VEISHEA was a lot of work and a lot of fun and a big recruitment tool for showing off the university to prospective new students. Hard to imagine canceling it at the last minute -- so much has already been done. Sad. Did not know about the riots.
And there will be a football game. Hope the students refuse to go. I do not support riots. And I do not support canceling everything except the football game. Suits in the corner office dominate once again. |

2. My daughter is going there in the fall
This drunken riot had nothing to do with the activities on campus. It is frustrating that all the other events are cancelled, but not the football game. It frankly makes me sick. I hate big time college sports, and this is just another example of it. A player was filmed carrying a stop sign during the riot. He probably won't be punished (he was not arrested yet - probably won't be).

3. Tis a great school.
Hope your daughter has a wonderful experience there. It was a ag school back in my day. Now they have so much! Including football, he he. Go Cyclones. I am glad you are not letting this discourage you. Lots and lots of good programs. I send you smiles.
