What IS a conservative education? Liberal education rules!

One can find liberal education in most encyclopedias including Wikipedia. Broadly speaking, it's an education that produces a person who is FREE from biases, dogma and prejudices. A person with a liberal education would review all courses of action before making a decision and acting upon it. Simply, a liberal educaton frees the mind. Is this indoctrination? One could argue that all education not provided by trial-and-error is indoctrination.

A conservative education isn't listed. Google provides all kinds of sites about conservatives and education reform. Stereotypically, conservatives want an indoctrination that produces people who respect authority. I suppose for liberals, a free mind would follow authority, when they agreed with it. Conservatives would also like people to be self-reliant.

Some conservatives would also like to impose their interpretation of God on education and eliminate anything that does not follow that interpretation. This seems to be quite a contrast with a liberal education. It's a dilema for sincere people who believe that "all wisdom begins with the love of God" but insist that people should be free to love God or not.

Conservatives also advocate a core "liberal education" cirriculum at the k-12 levels. Although I see the merits of providing the best possible education to students at this level, there are criticisms of a core knowledge education. Wikipedia provides criticism of this saying rote learning might cause creativity to decline. Besides, who would decide what the core involves? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Core_Knowledge_Foundation#Criticisms

Just look at science. You cannot teach science without challenging authority for challenging authority is the essence of science and checking old experiments again and again to make sure the old guys got it right. Without science we would be stuck in the age of black powder and the atmospheric steam engine, with iron and steel that was "hot short" or "cold short" unless bought from certain small foundries and the Huntsman process would be the only method of producing steel. Without science we would still be prescribing mercury compounds for VD, dying from smallpox and using opium and willow bark as our main painkillers.

The political labels are only tangentially related to the adjectives. Just like Democrats are not opposed to being in a republic... and Republicans are not against democracy.

It's like some RWer touting the fact (true) that the Constitution guarantees a "republican form of government".
