Public reading is a form of public speaking. If you know good from bad, then you are able to perform the good way...assuming you can actually read well enough to speak the words with feeling....

Which means, you have to talk with feeling. Which means you have to be allowed to talk.

Which means, you have to have practice and opportunity and an audience.

Now tell me, is any public school set up for any of this? Anyone? Bueller?

i had a kid who learned by talking. by telling me about what he had read, or invented. he always had elaborate stories about his lego creations.
i just could not put him in a place where he couldnt talk. couldnt.
especially when he had to get to know you before he could talk to you.

factory school homogenizes human contact and relationships. much to the harm of the most vulnerable kids. they need a place where they feel safe and accepted. putting them in a situation that is really built for the adults......
