It was the beautiful place with the mountain goats all around it, so tragic.

I'm glad I got to see Glacier National Park back in the early '80s. It looked like Switzerland--so spectacularly beautiful with high mountain meadows bursting with wildflowers and still patches of snow in July, pine trees and glaciers on the more distant mountains.

Alaska, too, is losing glaciers at an alarming rate. I was there a few years ago and they had the line of retreat marked -- it was rapidly accelerating and pieces the size of large vehicles were falling off into the sea daily. Every single person there believed in global warming -- you could see it happening.
