It does produce around 940 GWhours per year with mostly (but not entirely) solar energy.

It is not saving the world in any way.

I have less criticism of solar built over parking lots, rooftops, and other landscapes that have already been destroyed by humans. Those may indeed be better-than-coal, but better-than-coal is not a lofty goal.

In days past people saw smokestacks as something representative of human "progress." These huge solar and wind projects tearing up natural landscapes represent the same sort of misguided thinking.

The only way to quit fossil fuels is to quit fossil fuels but few are willing or able to do that; not on a personal level, not on a community level, not on a national level, and certainly not on an international level.
