Warren Buffett is spending billions to make Iowa 'the Saudi Arabia of wind'

Warren Buffett is spending billions to turn Iowa into "the wind capital of the world, the Saudi Arabia of wind," he told the Financial Times.

Berkshire Hathaway's billionaire boss isn't investing in green energy to cut carbon emissions or combat climate change, however, but because of government incentives.
"We wouldn't do [it] without the production tax credit we get," he said.

Buffett is wary of companies pursuing social and environmental goals, arguing it is hard to assess whether they are truly doing good, executives shouldn't funnel shareholders' money into peripheral projects, and structural changes have costs that are often shared unevenly.

... "If people want us to junk our coal plants, either our shareholders or the consumer is going to pay for it," he told the Financial Times. If consumers pay, those living in coal-reliant regions would foot the bill while others pay nothing, he added.

and known as the Windiest spot in the Midwest. We jokingly call a calm day a 20 mph wind out of the Southwest or Northwest. Caused by the downslope effect of the Buffalo Ridge.

Xcell as well as Midwest are expanding their Wind Farms all along the Western border of Minnesota and Eastern South Dakota. And Midwest recently announce new Wind Farms for Western Wyoming, and as well as Northeastern Nevada. Currently Midwest is in application for a mega Wind Farm south of Las Vegas which will be connected to the Solar Grid in that area.

One county in Missouri blocked the Grain State Express or it probably would have been operational by now bringing electricity from the wind belt to Illinois, KY and TN.

They are still in the process of getting permits. They are trying to build HVDC and HVAC lines from Wyoming to southern Utah.
