1st Nikola battery-electric trucks delivered to Port of LA trucking company

In an ongoing push to transition to a zero-emissions truck fleet by 2035, the Port of Los Angeles on Friday, Dec. 17, welcomed the first Nikola Tre battery-electric vehicle — or BEV — pilot trucks, which Total Transportation Services Inc., one of the most prominent port trucking companies in Southern California, will use.

Nikola CEO Mark Russell said the company had made a commitment to deliver its first Tre BEV trucks by the end of this year.

After Nikola completed a four-vehicle trial, the company expects another 30 BEVs will follow next year, with 70 fuel cell electric vehicles anticipated to be in place in 2023, so long as Total Transportation Services receives enough government funding.

TTSI distributes imports within the U.S. and Canada and is headquartered in Southern California.
