This Is One Time-Lapse Big Oil Doesn't Want You To See

Check this out only a minute twenty---
"Oil spills often bring to mind images of oil-drenched birds and blackened coastlines, but this incredible time-lapse video presents the human and financial cost of every oil spill since 1986. Politics aside, these stats are downright disturbing."

...that every drop of oil that moves through those pipelines is used by you and me. Oil producers will not produce what they cannot sell. We are all to blame.

The purpose of the XL pipeline is to make tar sands available on the global market. As it stands without the pipeline, we purchase most of it at a reduced price. Opening the sale of Canadian tar sands oil to the global market will spike it's price and increase our overall price here in the US.

The XL pipeline is a pipeline of profit for the oil companies built on the backs of the 99%. It will not help the US in any way.

I didn't suggest the Keystone XL pipeline should be built. My suggestion was maybe too subtle for you, but it was that these horrible spills are in part the fault of the consumers who buy the oil that is being pumped through the pipelines. Those of us who drive cars and such. Maybe you don't think so. Maybe you think we are not at fault. Maybe you think that only the oil companies are at fault because they would still be producing it and spilling it even if we weren't using it.

The oil companies are largely at fault. Technology has come along over and over that would have seriously reduced our use of oil. The oil companies bought the patents and the companies that produced the fuel saving products to make sure they never hit the market. Our current hybrids are an absolute joke compared to what they could be if it were not for the oil companies.

So no, I absolutely will not place all of the blame on us, the end user.

Our Military is also the largest consumer of fuels.

So no, I absolutely will not place all of the blame on us, the end user.

Our public transportation system in the US is is appallingly inferior forcing us to continue driving our cars. One of the reasons public transportation is all but non existent here in the US is because the politicians that would make it happen are bought and paid for by corporations that profit from our oil use.

So no, I absolutely will not place all of the blame on us, the end user.

But, that is all besides the point because I never said it wasn't our fault so much oil is used. I simply pointed out some of the dangers of the pipeline itself. Believe it or not, it is far safer to continue shipping it by train that it is to try and stuff that shit through a pipeline. The purpose of the pipeline is solely to increase profits for the oil giants, not to help America. We will pay the price if it is built.
