Scientist Shown On Heartland Payroll Denies (hah!) That He's A "Mouthpiece" For The Group

EDIT

Among the documents that Heartland does not claim to be faked, is a budget showing payments to selected scientists.

One of the recipients of funding is Professor Bob Carter of James Cook University, a geologist and marine researcher who spoke at the "convoys of no confidence" protests against the carbon price last year alongside the Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, and writes columns for News Ltd newspapers.

The documents show Professor Carter receives a "monthly payment" of $US1667 ($1550) as part of a program to pay "high-profile individuals who regularly and publicly counter the alarmist [anthropogenic global warming] message".

EDIT

Other cash recipients include Anthony Watts, the leading US climate sceptic blogger, who is to receive $US90,000 for his work this year. Programs slated for funding include new curriculum modules that teach science from a climate-sceptic perspective, to be sent to US schools.

They said among the documents that Heartland does not claim to be faked, is a budget showing payments to selected scientists. One of the recipients of funding is Professor Bob Carter of James Cook University, a geologist and marine researcher who spoke at the "convoys of no confidence" protests against the carbon price last year alongside the Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, and writes columns for News Ltd newspapers.

What they "forgot" was to tell their readers that they switched to the disputed document when they said The documents show Professor Carter receives a "monthly payment" of $US1667 ($1550) as part of a program to pay "high-profile individuals who regularly and publicly counter the alarmist [anthropogenic global warming] message".

The guy has impressive credentials.

Apparently you think that 20,000.00 a year makes one a mouthpiece? What does that say about James Hansen?

Wonderful - you've got one 'ho vouching for the other.

Maybe Dr. David Wojick will vouch for Anthony. Then you can get the Kochs to vouch for him.

That is because they are not planning on funding him.

2 of the 8 documents mention Anthony Watts. In the first:

http://www.desmogblog.com/sites/beta.desmogblog.com/files/(1-15-2012)%202012%20Fundraising%20Plan_0.pdf

It says that they will help him raise $88,000.00 for a project. A project that sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

The second document is the one that Heartland claims is a fake.

http://www.desmogblog.com/sites/beta.desmogblog.com/files/2012%20Climate%20Strategy%20%283%29.pdf

Basically it says the same thing.

PS: We really landed on the moon in 1969.

After all, if you're arguing that a guy with "impressive credentials" cannot be reduced to mouthpiece status by financial contributions, that would tend to rule out both Dr. Carter and Dr. Hansen, would it not?

Also, I am unaware of any information that Dr. Hansen has also received funding from the Heartland Institute.

If you unearth any such evidence, please feel free to share it with us.

It would make sense that they deny the most damning document as a "total fake" since it would be the most damaging.

They also aren't the most credible organization, being about as far right as they come.

What makes you think they have any credibility at this point?
