The fast increase in oil production in the states of Texas and North Dakota has made these two states the largest producers and now produce 48 percent of the oil in the country.

According to the Energy Information Agency, the U.S. produces 8.4 million barrels a day, 3 million come from Texas and 1 million from North Dakota, Oil and Gas Journal reported.

Texas has reached its highest production levels since the 1970s, according to the Dallas Business Journal, and has more than doubled during the past three years. Most of the production in the Lone star state comes from Eagle Ford Shale and the Permian Basin.

North Dakota who surpassed California as the second largest producer has tripled its production in the last three years and has averaged an increase of 3,000 barrels a day.

You would think that if we are drilling more oil in America then our gas should cost about what it costs in Venezuela which is about 30 cents a gallon. If we are going to ruin our environment, we should at least have a cheap gas cost. I am sure that some won't like that but I mean really if we are going to drill today then folks should get something out of it. If we stop all drilling then I don't have a problem paying more for gas.
