Related: About this forumSystematic Chaos died this morning.
His last DU post was just yesterday: http://www.democraticunderground.com/112786380#post1
From his wife's FB notificaton:
We would have celebrated our 12th anniversary on Monday, June 8, 2015. We would have also celebrated our 13th year of knowing each other on July 8, 2015. We had also made plans to go to a buffet or something tomorrow. I will note that he was in a good mood when he went to bed, we had spent some time stretching and just spending a few minutes together before he went to sleep. He went to sleep peacefully, and wasn't in any major pain because of the additional pain pills.
I'm hoping to be able to somehow get him cremated, so that I can retain his ashes and keep him with me. Unfortunately, I don't currently work, since I was dedicating my full time and energy to caring for him. I have been offered living space with a friend of ours, and my lease is being dissolved due to the death in the family. So, my cats and I will have a place to live when this month ends, until I can get stabilized. Margaret Lee Blue has told me that I should look into indigent cremation, if that's an option available here. If not, I will have to try getting the money together, because that's what I really want for him.
RIP you wonderful bastard. I will miss you.

(55,014 posts)I will never forget how he came around about the way he felt about my friend MFM. I was so impressed with his adult abilities.
this is very sad news.
can you please let me know if she needs help with the cremation? I can do a little.

(9,126 posts)But is there a way we can start a DU collection for his cremation stat? No one should be suffering such great grief and not know where to turn. If there is a way to kick in some bucks, please let me know. My heart goes out to her.

(9,126 posts)DU could probably help in some way. In California in 2013, it was about $700. We could get that together.

(10,726 posts)or something else that we can help Jeanette. She shouldn't have to have these thoughts at this time. He was a dear friend of mine here on DU and I would be more than happy to help.

(19,537 posts)It has me more determined to deal with things I need to deal with in life as well, as this Monday I was told I should go in for a checkup for sleep apnea as well. I don't think I have it nearly as severe as he did, but it has me taking that diagnosis that much more seriously now and wanting to go in to deal with it.

(2,161 posts)Please let us know how we can contribute to his widow for the cremation expenses. Maybe even do a new OP if there's a GoFundMe or something like that.

(205,511 posts)He really will be missed, such an interesting poster, and certainly a recognizable and familiar presence on DU. Sounds like he had a good last day and was at peace, don't see how we can ask for more...
If there's a fund to help his wife pay for cremation, please post it here, or let me know if I missed something. DUers always come through for one of their own like this.
