Support shoes

So one of my feet is hurting like the devil, and the ortho doc says it's tendonitis, get support shoes. He recommended Brooks Ariel, which turn out to be surpassingly ugly, big clunky things with color combinations thought up by some madman.

I've looked around for alternatives, and the few decent looking ones seem all to be made with leather, which rules them out for me.

Any ideas for shoes?

If I could get past that external spring, the problem is all the ones I looked at in detail on their site were made of leather.

They made it easier to run laps down hospital halls for 12 hours at a crack.

Yeah, they look goofy, but I still wear them if I have to walk longer distances, like through a mall or with friends on trips up to Santa Fe's old town.

like taking life saving drugs and undergoing life saving procedures that were first tested on animals. The good news is that many of the drugs and procedures are now also part of standard veterinary treatment, also.

I don't know of any truly supportive shoes that don't use leather somewhere in the construction, if only in the straps.

You might just have to bite the bullet and be a little less pure for 6 months or so until your tendon heals. After all, other people killed the animal for food. It would be a desecration to leave everything else to rot.

why not eat it too? Nothing's being "desecrated". Geez. People try to act in accordance with their beliefs and that's being "pure."

Maybe you should read it again.

I eat the occasional piece of meat but usually not beef. It upsets my delicate digestion.

However, a bit of well placed leather in a support shoe is necessary and, as you and i both pointed out, the animal is long dead, killed for its meat.

agonized over the tiny little stupid piece of leather attached to the back of a pair of jeans. Do I buy it or don't I? Then I finally said F**k it (and bought them).

I'm not vegan but I've been told to get support shoes so have been reading a lot about them. This is one of the blogs I've been looking at and it has a pretty good search function. It looks like she's done some reviews of some vegan shoes. Good luck in the shoe hunt!

They also haven't really hopped on the neon colorway bandwagon to the degree other athletic shoe manufacturers have, and they make a lot of support shoe options. They tend to be priced similarly to other quality shoes and they last nigh unto forever.

Personally I find I need lightweight, minimal-ish shoes with springy soles to keep shin splints at bay, and that's the one thing they don't do well so I stick with Saucony. But if support shoes are your thing they'll keep your feet happy.

some shoes are leather, some aren't. I have several pairs of New Balance shoes, none of them are leather. Some are all synthetic leather.
