South Korea offers 'audacious' economic aid to North if it abandons nuclear weapons

SEOUL, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- South Korea will help "dramatically improve" the North Korean economy if the regime commits to denuclearization, President Yoon Suk-yeol said Monday.

Yoon made the proposal in a speech marking Liberation Day, a holiday that commemorates the defeat of Japan in World War II and the end of Tokyo's colonial rule over Korea.

"I am here to propose an audacious initiative that can dramatically improve North Korea's economy and its people's livelihoods," Yoon said in a ceremony on the lawn of the presidential office, "if North Korea stops developing nuclear weapons and transitions to substantial denuclearization."

Yoon originally made the offer during his inaugural address in May, but he hadn't provided any further details until Monday.

He's an authoritarian dictator in the making. Yoon has changed the administrative structure of the National Police Agency to place it under the control of a "Police Bureau" in the Ministry of Interior without legislative authority. This will effectively create a police state under his control in the way it was under the Chun Doo-hwan dictatorship. Yoon acknowledged his admiration for Chun Doo-hwan during the presidential campaign.

(Source-열린공감TV youtube 5.25) The hands of his escorts which appear to be steadying President Yoon on his feet are visible. Their faces are blurred out for privacy and/or security reasons. Typically, identity of non-public figures are protected on Korean media for privacy reasons. Yoon ran up a 4000 dollar plus tab during this one drinking bout in May.

Yoon is clueless about where he stands with the US and Japan. The US isn't going to allow him to negotiate anything with North Korea. Yoon has said his administration is considering having US "strategic assets" back in South Korea. This means US aircraft carriers and strategic bombers. He has even suggested having the US bring nuclear weapons to South Korea. "No daylight" is the opposite of the Sunshine Policy. Anyway the more he talks about Japan, the less popular he will be become. He'll be hitting rock bottom soon.

Yoon blew up the THAAD issue again with China. The Korean economy is in the tank. His approval rating is in the crapper. He simply doesn't know what he is doing. 40 percent of the people who voted for him already disapprove of his administrations performance. Ahn Chul-soo one of the early presidential candidates said before he sold out, "Those who vote for Yoon, will want to cut off the finger that pushed the button (on the ballot) before a year passes." It's already come true.

Yoon’s presidential office was the mover behind the harassment of Moon Jae-in at his retirement residence, investigations of Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung and his family, etc. Yoon and his wife are petty, vindictive, and incompetent. This has become plainly apparent and his domestic support has evaporated despite the conservative media covering for him on a daily basis. The fact that Yoon whimsically changed the location of the presidential office, has been unavailable during a pressing national security incident and natural disaster, and has an obvious drinking habit doesn’t help.
