Zangnan part of China: Beijing after India rejects renaming of places in Arunachal Pradesh
Aday after India strongly rejected China's renaming of 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh, China said Zangnan is part of their country's territory and is within China's sovereign rights.
Asked about why China renamed these places in Arunachal Pradesh, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, told AFP, "Zangnan is part of China's territory. In accordance with relevant stipulations of the administration of geographical names of the State Council, competent authorities of the Chinese government have standardized the names of some parts of Zangnan. This is within China's sovereign rights."
China's Ministry of Civil Affairs on Sunday released the standardised names of 11 places for Arunachal Pradesh, which it calls "Zangnan, the southern part of Tibet", in accordance with regulations on geographical names issued by the State Council, China's cabinet.
The official names of the 11 places were released on Sunday by the ministry. The names included two land areas, two residential areas, five mountain peaks and two rivers.
