The Taliban government have banned women from visiting the Band-e-Amir national park in Bamiyan province.
Afghanistan's acting minister of virtue and vice, Mohammad Khaled Hanafi, said women had not been observing hijab inside the park.
He called on religious clerics and security agencies to forbid women from entering until a solution was found.
Band-e-Amir is a significant tourist attraction, becoming Afghanistan's first national park in 2009.
It is a popular destination for families and the ban on women attending will prevent many from being able to enjoy the park.

The Taliban have banned women from visiting one of Afghanistans most popular national parks, adding to a long list of restrictions aimed at shrinking womens access to public places.
Thousands of people descend each year on Band-e-Amir national park, taking in its stunning landscape of sapphire-blue lakes and towering cliffs in the countrys central Bamiyan province.
The ban was announced after the countrys acting minister of vice and virtue complained that women visiting the park had not been adhering to the proper way of wearing the hijab.
Going sightseeing is not a must for women, said Mohammad Khalid Hanafi as he asked security forces to begin halting womens entry into the park.

(5,556 posts)that the downtrodden women need to kill their husbands in their sleep. It sounds awful and stupid but I see no other way out. The women are in a war with power and one must start somewhere. I remember reading about women in the US having their arms chained high in the jail cells ordered by the President because they wanted the vote. We women fought back in our country and women in backwards places must do the same. Whole situation is awful.
