Security of Israel top priority, Obama says

WASHINGTON, DC (NBC) - President Barack Obama is pledging to launch a full investigation into an attack in Jordan that killed two Americans.

Authorities say a Jordanian police officer opened fire at a military training center outside the capital city of Amman.

It's still unclear whether Americans were the actual target of the attack.

Speaking from the Oval Office during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the president offered his condolences and pledged action.

"Obviously, a full investigation is taking place," Obama said. "We take this very seriously, and we'll be working closely with the Jordanians to determine exactly what happened. But at this stage I want to just let everyone know that this is something we're paying close attention to and at the point where the families have been notified, obviously our deepest condolences will be going out to them."
