Gaza/Ramallah: The different groups in control of Gaza and the West Bank differ in optimism on the re-election of Barack Obama, but the Palestinian people on the ground are largely consistent in their view that the American president will not help them end Israels occupation.
Dr. Yahya Rabah, a senior officer in Fatah, which rules the West Bank, was optimistic about Obamas re-election saying that Obama had been released from the political constraints the Israel lobby put on him.
I believe that Obamas re-election is better than Romney for the Palestinians since we already know his views. Plus, the president Mahmoud Abbas had discussed with Obama all the details such as settlements and refugees.
The various resistance groups in Gaza who have refused to make peace with Israel are however not as optimistic.

(25,699 posts)In that Obama is apparently indifferent (hey, he has big issues to deal with at home, I'll give him a pass) while Romney was actively, lethally hostile, and set to give the extreme elements in Israel carte blanche to kill whoever they feel like.

(35,961 posts)I think the Fatah guy in the artlcle must have been looking out the window when Romney came out with some of his anti-Palestinian stuff, because he seemed to think that while the Palestinians know Obama's views, they don't know Romney's. I guess we could all pretend he bullshitted with what he said about Palestinians because of his knack of bullshitting about lots of other things, but that hatred he had was probably the real deal...
