Get your tissues ready. This is so awesome! It's been posted on DU previously, with little response. Very sad. You will understand why I'm posting in this forum, after you watch it.
This is Epic! Full-screen it! Turn it up!
Mind = blown!

(110 posts)"Poor little rich white girl from Vassar got the blues" was kind of a hard pill to swallow at first. But she has proven she has the chops, and has become almost iconic. Her version of John Prine's "Angel From Montgomery" is an absolute treasure.

(3,269 posts)She's always been one of the "go-to" options in our home. We had a cat who loved her voice so much that she used to plant herself in the sweet spot between the speakers to listen whenever we played Bonnie Raitt.

(74 posts)....while working in 1978 as an intern general assignments reporter for Flagstaff's Arizona Daily Sun, to interview Bonnie before her Flagstaff concert. She was by far the most gracious interviewee I had during my internship semester. I was a fan before and have remained a fan of hers to this day.

(41,987 posts)I was at a large university in a small town somewhere around 1980 when Bonnie came through. Her dad happened to be with her, and for her encore he came out and did a medly of songs from "Oklahoma!". About the same time a really fine batch of mushrooms had come through town. I think John was tremendoulsy impressed with the absolute zeal with which we all roared "Oooooooklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plains!" It remains a surral and wonderful moment in my memory.
I'm fond of John in The Pajama Game myself, but Bonnie? She's beyond wonderful. There was a brief concert series done by Peter Gabriel years back whose only stop in the US was at Marymoor Park, which I lived near at the time. Bonnie was one of the participants, and it was a delight to see her at the Music Education Tent, teaching guitar to all the little kids. Then later she and Taj Mahal burned the place to the ground.
Quite a woman.
