Matt Barber: My Family Member Dying Of AIDS Got What Was Coming To Him
"He was seduced. Found a group of people who welcomed him and embraced him and accepted him. And they had counselors and others who said, 'This is what you are, you're gay, embrace it and be proud of it.' You know the rest of the story. He's in his thirties, his young thirties now, and he's dying of HIV/AIDS. The wages of sin is death." -Matt Barber, who claims to love his dying family member, even though he clearly got what he deserved. Barber was speaking at the Calvary Assembly's Awakening 2012 and his speech was posted yesterday to the official Liberty Counsel YouTube page. (13:00 mark.)

(18,421 posts)Really now? So if you "welcomed him and embraced him and accepted him" he would be straight?
What the hell... give it a shot. And don't stop until it works.
Asshole.

(3,888 posts)we (the family) thought it was a death sentence too.
it's 2012 and he is still alive and quite well. who would have thought?
if the author's intent (and it seems to be) is to suggest that the gay community somehow tricked his brother into a "dirty" lifestyle that has proved ruinous, or something, he is misdirecting his anger.
life is short for all of us and blaming those who treat us well and with respect for somehow destroying what life we have is absurd.
i hope this man can get beyond his anger and come to a point where he can also offer support and strength for his ailing brother.
for the great post , iemitsu.
I hope your brother has continuing good health and family support.
he is well and we love him.

(25,771 posts)My little brother was diagnosed with aids at about the same time. He was in medical school - went on to become a psychiatrist and work at several mental health centers in upstate New York. Unfortunately we lost him in 1997.

(3,888 posts)i'm sorry to hear about your brother.
sounds like he had a positive impact on many people. he will be remembered fondly (which in my opinion is the closest thing to immortality one can achieve).

(3,888 posts)the world can be a cold place.
but it only takes one person to offer shelter to warm a cold soul.
guess we need to be that person.

I despise organized religion more everyday.

(32,886 posts)I am not an atheist or agnostic, but I support FFRF because of their efforts to get religion out of politics. It is that aspect of organized religion that bothers me the most.

(38,187 posts)Matt Barber is a major asshole for thinking that way. I hate that mentality. Liberty University is Falwell's "school."
Matt Barber has a history of making lots of anti-gay comments. He is full of hate.
I don't know much about this site, but some of his nasty comments are listed here and it is sourced:
