U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert tells E. Texas high school students that gay sex is unnatural

Imagine being a gay high school student in rural East Texas struggling with your sexual orientation.

Then your congressman comes to your school and declares that gay sex is unnatural.

That’s what undoubtedly happened to some students at Carlisle High School in Price, Texas, on Wednesday. According to the Longview News-Journal, U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Tyler, spoke to about 175 students, answering questions for a full 90 minutes:

Sascha Ford asked if Gohmert believed gay marriage should be recognized by Texas.

“I’m not homophobic,” he said, noting his gay friends say they should be able to be with whomever they want. “I agree, but if we’re going to continue society, it’s between a man and a woman. … I still want someone to explain to me how sexual relations between two men helps our species evolve forward.”

First of all, since when does Gohmert even believe in evolution? Second, it’s bad enough that Texas schools are teaching abstinence-only education. Now we’re going to replace sex-ed with biology lessons from this nutjob?

Gohmert does not believe in evolution so how does he think sexual relations between a man and a woman help our species evolve forward? He must think evolution is to over-populate the planet so that we eventually destroy it so Armageddon can happen.

His statement it is not natural. The fact it occurs not only among homo sapiens but throughout the biologic world suggests that while relatively rare, it is certainly natural.

As a gay man it is my nature to be attracted to other men. Even if he has gay "friends" I'm sure he still considers this a life choice and not a born "nature". Until he walks a mile in my shoes he needs to shut up.

And I love his statement if we are going to continue society sex must be between a man and a woman. Let's see....the world is seriously overpopulated. We are depleting our natural resources at unsustainable rates. We could feed everyone in the world and provide them with safe drinking water, basic medical care and acceptable housing if we, the "haves" were willing to give up our hamburgers, Lexus', McMansions, etc. and share our wealth with the rest of the world.

But since we don't I don't see how we continue society in a world that is increasingly impoverished, susceptible to disease, hungry, lacking adequate drinking water, shelter and income.

That has nothing to do with the gays having sex. Trust me my having sex with my partner is not going to prevent society from moving forward but Republicant policies will keep American society from moving forward and American policies generally will prevent the world from moving forward.

I think idiots like this must think the entire world would go gay if it could. That would mean that heterosexuality was the unnatural behavior

The only reason they could think that gay sex is so wonderful is if they once experienced it and miss it so badly that they are just one wink away from losing their entire identities. I don't understand it. Shakespeare had it right: these laddies doth protest far too much.
