Hi everyone. Is it okay if I move in here?

I'm Violet. Some of you might already know me, but I thought I'd introduce myself anyway. I'm Australian, and there's issues that affect women in the US that don't affect me here, like the constant attempts to restrict reproductive choice, healthcare, and stuff. I've got my L-plates on when it comes to feminism, coz I haven't studied it at uni or read any books on it. All I read is what I see here at DU, and I've decided to come somewhere where people are discussing it in a non-toxic environment...

So, hi

I'm remote from this being a bloke but think I know the background.

Pastures new and best wishes to you.

For those who are not familiar with the terminology used in Australia and Great Britain. I don't think we have that anywhere in the states unless you are taking lessons and the car is usually marked "Student Driver" so you know that you should give them a wide berth.

When I'm at DU I try to minimise using terms that we use here that I know Americans don't use, but I didn't know that one. Though giving them a wide berth looks like it's a universal thing coz I stayed well out of one this afternoon on the way home from work

think you will find this a good group for discussion and support. definitely non-toxic.

the room is cozy, the chairs are comfy, the fireplace is on--the bar is over there, and the kitchen is open 24 hours.

It's for special occasions and very malleable. We don't want it all bent and dull when a special occasion comes around.

Welcome, Violet (sometimes I wish I lived in Australia)
