Food stamps

I was told that I am now eligible for what used to be called food stamps being I am over the age of 60 and totally disabled.

So, I went through the whole process to get them and wow, a whole $23 a month I will get if I fill out a shitload of paperwork and send it back.

What a fucking insult.

This is the only thing I've ever been able to receive after being totally disabled since 1995.

I won't bother to fill-out all of their nosy paperwork to get the $23.00 a month.

Yes, that is how insulted I am.

I was in terrible shape back then, thank God I’m not so bad any more. The doc gave me a pile of paperwork fill out, way beyond what I was capable of doing at that time. I didn’t have anyone to help me with it, so I just struggled thru without it. I wasn’t really driving anyway and I ended up recovering sufficiently enough to get by but I’m sure many others find themselves in similar circumstances.

I have a hole in my vision from optical neuritis.

Filling out forms is extremely difficult for me to do.

I'm not going to bother.

It isn't worth my time and energy and I just know it will be wrong.

I don't get a thing but a $102 disability pension from my former job these days as I was switched from SSDI to SSA last year due to my age.

Some out there seem to think that those with disabilities get all sort of free things.

Well, I don't, that is obvious.

To hell with this B.S. system that panders to the rich! again!

I can no longer believe or uphold anything in politics or religion.
Nazi leaders and pedophile priests.
I'm working on my personal freedom from samsara.

I am sure that $23/month makes America the envy of the world.

I mean ... most all US politicians take the time to repeat these mantras every chance they get. So it must be true.

He brought in about $500 a month.

He's gone now and I cannot collect a thing as a disabled widow.

I thought I would be able to collect something as I was married to him for 36 years.

He died indigent with $5.00 in a savings account and that is it.

So, he left me behind with nothing to show for all of the years we were together.

The paperwork they send me is wrong anyway as I went through a load of money last year paying for his care and other things, including $1300+ in taxes!

In the end, it was $500/day for hospice care at a facility in the nearby town.

I worked a full-time job from the age of 19 with a salary of $2.88/hr.

I was dumped after my diagnosis of MS two weeks after I got it which led to ending up blind and in a wheelchair.

I had no choice but to STOP which is what I had to do, STOP.

Going blind is what caused me to throw in the towel as I felt I had no choice as its pretty difficult to work as an office assistant when you cannot see properly.

I am so depressed about this.

Once again I'd gotten my hopes up for nothing.

$23 will barely cover the cost of driving into town and back to do some shopping at the good old Grocery Outlet!

The whole system is a scam. It's held back by republicans and their hateful anti-life bullshit. They hate the poor. I'm sorry you are only getting $23.00.

My family of four is supposed to get by on $230ish. That includes two kids - a preteen and a teen. They are growing and, therefore, eating machines. It's impossible. And the food pantries around here can't keep up.

The system is designed to fail you. It starts at the beginning with all the bullshit and hoops that come with applying.

I'd have gone broke had he not died when he did.

He needed 24/7 care and I was trying to get him out of the country.

I would have sold everything to do it. That is how far I was willing to go for him.

It still angers me the way WE were treated.

I'll never forget it!

It was very very sad.

And is eligible for only $17.00 a month. Ha! My income doesn't count either, because we are not legally married. It's crap.
