Do any of you blog about your experiences, or would you be willing to?

My experiences via Wishadoo and those who find their way there have shown me how the lack of safety nets throughout our country for persons in the process of applying for disability is a critical problem.

Honestly, I'm fairly ignorant about the process as far as specifics, as well as how being on disability (depending on the reason for disability, of course) affects other things, like being able to generate a small income to supplement SSD.

I want to add blogs to Wishadoo which chronicle the daily life of people in various situations mirrored across our country by millions of others. Until people have insight into the path of others, they often remain clueless and judgmental. I'd like to help change that in some small way.

A blog by a veteran on the verge of homelessness, sharing his journey, will be added to Wishadoo, as well as a blog by a caregiver who had to sacrifice her job, home, etc., in order to care for her ailing mother, all on a severely limited monthly funds.

People need to understand more about the daily trials and tribulations encountered by those already suffering with a disability, and what they encounter via our system and from other citizens who judge without knowing anything about the other person.

Do you know of anyone writing such a blog? If you have an interest in writing a blog, would you be willing to do so for Wishadoo?

Someone currently going through the disability application process and struggling without a safety net, as well as someone who has been approved and is now "in the system" would be most helpful.

Thanks much.

I want to show real-life, everyday stories which counteract that Reagan-era myth.

I hate to ask DUers for another penny, and had only asked for the most essential things before, so I was trying to get my friends and ex-colleagues to help. I did finally make another Wishadoo, but I can adjust the fundraising goals on each to match when one donates in one to take out their donation in the other.

If you'd like me to repost those blogs for you, I can.

I'll go ahead and reply to you here rather than messaging; hope that's okay.

Honestly, I'm having to institute a new protocol at Wishadoo. As you know, I've been doing it completely alone and it has completely overwhelmed me now. I'm desperately trying to find help and funding in order TO find help.

In addition, Wishadoo recently underwent a long-awaited upgrade, and there are small glitches I'm finding throughout the site (including the video section, so I need to get that fixed before adding your videos, which I would LOVE to do).

Actually, I've created a new group at Wishadoo (trying to get it set up today), that is part of the protocol; people creating posts which involve $$ are asked to please join the group, to offer one another emotional support, brainstorm about solutions, discuss the best ways for each individual to spread the word (some people require privacy, others can be more transparent and thus that engenders more trust), etc. This stage will also hopefully eliminate scammers (who do find their way there, and which you are NOT, obviously).

Yeah, part of the protocol will have to involve how to deal with multiple fundraisers going on simultaneously. Honestly, I don't have an answer to that as I type this right now.

I'll send you a link to that group later today when I get it set up.

I am so sorry for the continued challenges, moriah. Thanks for your patience with me and Wishadoo.

I have enough to carry me over to January with regards to my bills and psychiatric care, thanks to a wide variety of resources -- including the DUers here who donated. When I am back on my feet, I will be contributing at least that amount to others, unless anyone in particular needs it back at a certain time. If you were one of my donors, message me if you're ever in financial need.

I was able to do a private personal loan for $1000, which will take care of my needs until the ACA kicks in.
