I was at my pcp today for another issue but I decided I should weigh myself because my hairdresser asked me a couple of weeks ago if I had lost weight. I said no, I always weigh the same, 175. Sure enough, though, today I weighed 165!
It kinda makes sense. As I get older, my appetite has decreased so overall I eat less. Doc congratulated me but I didn't feel I DID anything. I'm just less hungry.
I do eat good foods, high in nutrients, but I sure do eat less calorie-wise every day. But I've been doing that for years. So I chalk it up to age...

(20,577 posts)that is what every trip to the doctor reveals these days. I keep forgetting how old I am and they are kind enough to remind me.

(63,912 posts)I just think of it as a bag that packed too tight...something has to get dropped out for more to get in...
no previous generation had to remember passwords, pin numbers, and how to work the latest computer update! Brains can call a time-out!

(7,575 posts)I am 75 years old....last time I visited the doctor I had lost 15#.....a total surprise to me but I did notice my dress pants were a bit too loose.....I do eat less but strive for nutritious foods...I have two friends who are overweight....they would love my problem....

(63,912 posts)a while back, I was so certain I was the same. I've lost a bit of height too, so that makes it a little more balanced.
I wonder, do people with obesity issues lose weight when they reach their mid 70s?
