(20,577 posts)I have to live near water. Once started to panic when I was on a bus going to Yellowstone to work. I couldn't see water and thought I really might have to leave, until we approached Yellowstone Lake where my work assignment was - so I was OK.
Also - the most devastating crisis in my life was accompanied with dreams of swimming every night. A friend who is a sleep specialist thought it had to do with returning to the safety of the womb. That may play into our comfort with being near water too.

(23,156 posts)I do have a son in Portland, OR, and I've made him promise that when he becomes rich he will buy me a home on the Oregon Coast. He's made the promise, but it doesn't look as if he'll ever be that rich. Sigh.
