Yes, I'm under a doctor's care. No, it's not serious.
But it's so damn annoying! Thanks for letting me vent.

(2,520 posts)I have them post surgery too but mine are tolerable. My wife is an artist and hers will shut down her detail work. Totally frustrating.
Are yours related to surgery? One eye or two?
Are you seeing an eye surgeon?

(6,070 posts)Diagnosis is vitreous detachment, which is common as you get older. Simultaneous with the floater, I got "lightning bolt" flashes in my left eye's peripheral vision. If you get those, you should see an opthalmologist instanter, because there could be an incipient retinal tear, but most often not. I have a followup Thursday. I still get the lightning bolts, but less frequently.

(32,675 posts)Was walking around an antique store and noticed I was surrounded by fruit flies. they followed me every where. Took a while to realize I was only seeing them from my right eye. Didn't think much about it, but did google it. Google said get to the hospital right away. Ended up having two surgeries.

(2,520 posts)My dad had it so I knew what it was, instant eye surgery with a green laser. The surgeon welded up the perimeter. My wife had her eye retina detach in the center where the pupil does the most focusing for detail work. Macular puckering? Mine was drop dead critical. My wife's was considered really serious but not immediately urgent, she was advised to schedule within a week for surgery. same surgeon who saved my eyes did hers. We drove from Pittsburgh to Buffalo NY for this surgeon. If you need a name, PM me for info.
