L-Arginine Modulates Glucose and Lipid Metabolism in Obesity and Diabetes

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27356939/

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes has become a global public health problem affecting approximately 380 million people throughout the world. It can cause many complications and lead to greater mortality. At present, there is no available medicine for effectively preventing diabetes. L-arginine, a functional amino acid, the precursor of nitric oxide, plays a crucial role in maintenance, reproduction, growth, anti-aging and immunity for animals. Growing clinical evidence indicates that dietary L-arginine supplementation can reduce obesity, decrease arterial blood pressure, resist oxidation and normalize endothelial dysfunction to bring about remission of type 2 diabetes. The potential molecular mechanism may play a role in modulating glucose homeostasis, promoting lipolysis, maintaining hormone levels, ameliorating insulin resistance, and fetal programing in early stages. The possible signaling pathway of the beneficial effects of L-arginine likely involves L-arginine-nitric oxide pathway through which cell signal protein can be activated. Accumulating studies have indicated that L-arginine may have potential to prevent and/or relieve type 2 diabetes via restoring insulin sensitivity in vivo.

Much more encouraging info at link. This is not new, only new to me. My L-Arginine Plus arrived today. I'll be trying it tonight, instead of bbp med & will monitor bp throughout the day tomorrow.

I hope you find this helpful.

Lots of research out there.

I take both daily. (Found both on Amazon. Excellent reviews & very reasonably priced.)

I can't recall why, but the Ceylon cinnamon is unique from what I've read.

Your friend should know.

Pls let meknow what he says?

This is epidiemic, even in young people, esp post-covid.

Have a fun visit.

I know regular cinnamon is good, too, for controlling blood sugar.

Maybe your friend will know of other natural ways to control it as well.

Please let us know?

Enjoy your trip to see hour friend.

Do some research, too.

I did not takd my hbp med tonight, as many med websites say doing so can cause bp to drop too low.

I will carefully monitor my bp tomorrow.

This powder mixes ez epfionally well sith water & tastes greT!

Can't recall the reason, but healthcare provider who originally siggested I take this & from whom I first purchased it told me not to mix it with a metal utensil.

Ps - I chose to take before bed on empty stomach, as it enhnces sleep quality, according to what I've read.

I already tend towards low BP. In fact, I wound up getting off of my meds because I almost passed out at Pilates class!

I'll keep it in the back of my mind, but I'm a little hesitant to try it because of that.

Deficiency of zinc can lead to slow growth, and in extreme cases, loss of sense of smell.
