Disposing of EpiPen?

I usually go to a box at a sheriff office to dump old drugs but I wonder whether EpiPen can just be tossed into the trash

2. Not the trash

Go to a pharmacy, doctor’s office, etc. Needs to be disposed of in a Sharps container. Anyone who is a diabetic or Dupixent user will have one.

Don’t want someone accidentally sticking themselves.

5. In our state needles are put in plastic containers such as a pickle jar.

The lid is taped on and Sharps is written on the outside of the bottle! It sounds crazy but that is the drill. We called pharmacy, fire station and police department and were told the same. These are needles for things like T and insulin, and pet insulin if that makes a difference. Here I would assume that if the epi was empty the same drill would hold true! We tried every way not to put them in the trash but a cat with two shots a day really creates a lot of sharps. It seems crazy!

7. I'm glad you are asking. I would be interested in finding out the answer too. Fortunately, I don't use any sharp

objects (injecting insulin, etc.), but I'm sure that there are other people out there that would be interested in knowing to dispose of such objects. Also, I'm sure that there are cautionary comments on the labeling of insulin needles, etc., on how to dispose of.

While picking up the trash around the street/alleys around the neighborhood, I have found a needle (or two), and I immediately collected it (carefully) and disposed of it, so no one could get harmed, e.g., young children etc. It does happen people, unfortunately.

8. I think that special collection boxes are the way to go. In my case the pharmacy is CVS

which is located inside a Target store. Used to be Target and I was told that the CVS retail store has special boxes.

Otherwise, as I’ve said in my OP - the sheriff has a special box.
