http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-21002381The US is in the midst of the worst flu outbreak in years
The governor of New York State, Andrew Cuomo, has declared a public health emergency because of the severity of this year's influenza season.
The order makes vaccinations more accessible and allows pharmacists to administer vaccines to children.
Almost 20,000 cases of flu have been reported in New York state so far this season - more than four times the number of cases last winter.
The flu outbreak has reached epidemic proportions across the US.

Mr. In_The_Wind always gets sick from flu shots.
The freezer is well stocked.
We are only exposing ourselves to germs when it's absolutely necessary.
Being old & simi-retired has a few perks.

(23,156 posts)4. 20,000 reported cases out of a population of
almost 20 million. Wow. That's about 1 in a thousand people with flu. So let's assume that maybe half of all cases have been reported.
One in five hundred people there have the flu.
What would we ever do if we had a genuine Black Death sort of epidemic where from a third to a half of all people died?
