I would like to recommend a British mystery series, C. B. Strike

These shows are based on the Cormoran Strike mystery series by Robert Galbraith, (aka J.K. Rowling). My wife and I are both big fans of Galbraith's novels and we found this series on DVD at our library. I just looked up where to watch these on line and saw that they are on Amazon Prime.

We feel that these are very well done and we are really enjoying them. Martin Shaw, who played George Gently in another fine British mystery appears in the first episode. It was fun seeing him as a not so good guy.

of actors is actually quite small compared to the US. We recognize a lot of them in different shows now.

I think only the first three books have been filmed and released in the US. Waiting for the 4th book...

I read that the 4th book has been produced, so hopefully it will be available here before long. I've been reading the fifth book - Troubled Blood for over a week now, (it's over 900 pages). My wife keeps bugging me, "Hurry up!"

I think that means you have to pay for an HBO membership to see it.

Right now I don't want to pay for another channel so I am unwilling to add HBO to my line-up. It can be frustrating!

18. Yes, if it is on a channel through other outlets you can get it directly

Through Amazon Prime I have been offered shows on Acorn TV, BritBox, HBO, and several other channels. This irritates me since I prefer to subscribe directly and to only be offered what is actually on the channel I am searching.

It turns out one of the leads, Tom Burke, gives a stunning but brief portrayal of Orson Welles in the Netflix movie Mank. I mentioned it in my review: https://www.democraticunderground.com/114310756
