Today, an anniversary, OA, ..not doing well.

2 years ago, I gave up a whole lot of sugar products..all cakes, pies, cookies, ice cream, donuts, chocolate, candy of all kinds, and browinie type foods. No sherbert, no substitue fat free ice cream or the like.. None of that...none..
Yet.. today, I have cravings..my girlfriend is very very ill. I went to a meeting this morning..maybe another tonite will be the answer..yet..? (oh, got over 5 years in AA too)...still???

1. Well, I'm also in AA and know I'll always be an alcoholic

At the meeting I went to tonight there were several members there with 25+ years and they're still there every week. I have three years, as of April. No matter how long you're in either program, life still happens and there will always be these times when a drink, or anything else, sounds good.

It sounds like you have a lot going on right now, so it's not at all surprising that your cravings will reappear. Meetings and talking to fellow members is what you need right now, support from those who really do understand.

I certainly do understand, still take many days "One Day at a Time," especially if I'm under stress. It's a long time habit to turn to what I always did to relieve that stress, but being aware is half the battle. It's good that you recognize it and are talking about it. Hang in there and let us know how you are...
