Mental Health Support
Related: About this forumAnyone else here watch "After Life" on Netflix?
It’s Ricky Gervais’ project about a man who loses his wife to cancer and how he tries to cope.
That’s not my situation, but some of what I see in this series seems pertinent to my mental state. After grieving for a period of time, the character comes to terms with the fact that he realizes that he had a good life when his wife was alive and pretty much realizes that he’s never going to have that happiness again. He doesn’t want to die himself, but he’s not excited about living.
Sometimes, I think that’s true of a lot of us. Not necessarily limited to a relationship - but we realize that the best years are behind us and don’t have anything to get excited about.
How do we get that excitement back? Especially during the time of a pandemic?

(3,350 posts)be something special. Have seen several mentions online. Gonna have to re-up my Netflix I suppose. I very much enjoyed the first two seasons.

(12,825 posts)perils of covid have taken years we can’t replace.
I think I’d rather watch a more upbeat series.

(15,727 posts)My attention span is almost nil. Whatever I watch is done so I’m about ten minute increments.
Hope you’re staying safe!

(15,714 posts)I don't get Netflix to save money. I might not watch it, because it hits too close to home, and I'm already on edge.
Hope you're well

(4,222 posts)It's a brilliant series with some side splitting comedy thrown in.
We saw the episode last night that had the woman in it who uses her breast milk to make rice pudding and her vaginal yeast to make bread. I have not laughed so hard in a LONG time!
