something like citalopram or mirtazapine?

If so water retention one of the side effects. Check your above your ankles on the side near the front of the shin bone, press your thumb hard but not painfully into the flesh for 3 to 5 seconds and see how quick the dint takes to recover. More than 1 or 2 seconds and you might have water retention.

Don't panic this is not normally a problem though you may find yourself getting a bit short of breath (I know I do) but tell your doctor and get him to check it out.

Many people gain 20 or 30 pounds just from lithium, and yes, anti-psychotics can cause weight gain too. All I can suggest is that many people find cutting out gluten or even cutting out all grains makes them feel better and they often lose weight.

But I've learned several times that the alternative, no meds, is worse.

The wretched thing about my dark, depressed, OCD, slightly paranoid and psychotic unmedicated self is that I'm the last one to know anything is wrong.

The first thing that flies out the window is my ability to judge my own mental state.

Never been with a girl so didn't effect my in that sense but I certainly noticed in when I went to masturbate.

I heard a funny joke told by a standup comedian regarding this. He said he'd been on some antidepressant and had this side effect. Then he sarcastically said, "yeah isn't that what women hate, your ready to go any time and can last forever" lol

Although I did reach 135 myself at one point during a strange period of depression, I'm 6'2. Otherwise I've been overweight my whole life.

Though I was probably normally 115 pounds originally, which isn't any better. Turned out I have (constant) B-12 deficiency. If you get a vitamin deficiency, B-12 is NOT a good one to have.

And a few other meds. Unfortunately I turn to food to sooth my depression and anxiety. The meds never did a huge amount for me besides preventing me from dropping off a cliff, so I still ate to I'll the emotional emptiness. Now that I'm off my meds and my emotions are more varied I still find myself eating a lot, perhaps more, as my depressed episodes are lower. But I don't think I've gained weight as fast as when I was on them.

Time will tell if I stay off my meds or not. I'm going to ask my psych if he thinks going back on a small dose might be prudent. Recently these lows I've been having have been destroying me by and large bough I agree with him now that they weren't helping me as a whole. But if I need them to stay sane, fuck it I'm taking them, just maybe at a low dose.
