I have become a FitBit 5 mile addict. Music helps, and being a group. Anyone else?

Today was rainy, I had to use the $129 Kmart treadmill..

When I do that I listen to music.

Today I walked at a 3.0 mile per hour rate with lots of great songs,

Gotta have songs.

It works so well, 30 pounds lost since tracking my steps.

It's a little electronic device that uses an accelerometer to sense motion and count your steps.

It's wi-fi enabled, so can talk to your phone or computer, there are apps, of course.

They make more than one model, some fit on your wrist, one clips to your belt or waist.

I have the fitbit flex:

My phone is too old to sync, so I have to use the USB dongle.

My Force, Aria and having friends with FitBits Have helped me lose 15+ Lbs.

Currently doing 4+ miles on top of whatever I do during the work day. Not sure what I'm going to do as we start into fall.

I am in my slow spring and summer slimming period due to much increased activity - sitting at 211, but hope to get to 190 by the summer - which would be 6 lbs lower than my recent all time, post-WW and post Engine 2 plan weight.

Feeling really very good - and sore (since yard work has started).

Biggie - still - been keeping a daily food log since mid 2011. Total honesty, no cheating - if I eat or drink it, it gets logged. Really helps me keep on track - the Fitbit is great for that.

The fitbit helps me to be sure that on those days that I'm tied to the computer, or sitting for hours in a car or other vehicle, that I get out somehow and put in at least my 10,000 steps, but usually 12,000.

And it's interesting how on other days it builds up.

I haven't been keeping the food log but when I do I'm more successful in losing a little weight.

probably need to pace the house for a while to do it before bedtime. LOL

Am using My Fitness Pal.com as my food log and all, as I started that before getting the fitbit.

We'll see how it goes.

Do NOT lose your little charger.

And, my wristband was starting to come undone, Target has three packs for $30, but I didn't buy them. I only need one for when this one completely splits open.

But I'm thinking about returning it and getting a Fitbit One instead, for the same price.

https://www.fitbit.com/one

I like that it displays steps, miles, and still syncs with iPhone.

Have fun, keep up the good work!

Because my girlfriend also has a flex, her birthday present, and we could share chargers, etc.

But I couldn't get over not having a readout, but OTOH I'm not sure I'll be happy with clipping to my waist as opposed to wearing it on my wrist or, what I had been doing more often than not, putting the flex around my ankle inside my sock.

I felt it was more likely to count steps than on my wrist, but the sock technique might also be why it's now been lost.
