Half-way to goal weight

Today I hit the half-way mark to my eventual weight goal. (Goal may be subject to change) I started my weight-loss journey 7 months ago, and have lost 60 lbs since then, half before my surgery in June, and half since. I know that this is going to take a long time, and that the life changes need to be permanent. My starting BMI was a tad above 46, and it is now a tad below 36. My goal is at the high end of the normal range for my height. I know I'll never be a skinny minnie - I just don't have that sort of body shape. And since I am nearly 50, I have no plans to try on any bikinis even when I get to goal.

Last time at the doctor my BMI was perfect but I was four inches too short. Working on it.

Congratulations on your progress.

I also use the "half-way there" strategy at the gym. If I'm feeling like giving up after 15 minutes on the elliptical or treadmill, I tell myself that I'm already half-way to the 30 minutes I usually do. And the rest of the time feels a little easier.

Well, sorta... I start out aiming for a full workout, but sometimes you just don't feel like being there!!! So I aim for halfway, telling myself that if I still can't handle it, I can quit at halfway. But most of the time (unless I am not feeling well for some reason), once I make it halfway, I know I can finish!

I edited run tapes for my ipod, and have a halfway cue in each one. Partly though that's so I know I better start heading towards home, so I don't run a couple miles - then find myself a couple miles from home and done with my run.

My next milestone is dropping under 200 lbs. I am teetering right on the edge. Should come within a few days. I'm wandering around 200-201.
